At Sri Shankara Cancer Foundation, we firmly believe that the strongest weapon in fighting cancer is the sound understanding and knowledge of cancer. The research laboratory is located in our dedicated research block - Sri Sharada Kripa. The state of the art laboratory houses the latest, cutting edge technology in oncological research, including Mass Spectromtery, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), Sanger Sequencer, Real Time PCR (RT-PCR), Fluoroscence In Situ Hybridization (FISH) and Immuno Histo Chemistry (IHC).
Our Tumour Bio Bank can store upto 15,000 samples along with the blood sample. A dedicated scientist is responsible for the Bio Bank. Fresh tissues from all cancers are anonymized, coded and stored in the Bio Bank.

The team at Sri Shankara National Centre for Cancer Prevention and Research are enabled to conduct community, preventive, economic and epidemiological research through customized technology including a custom built, satellite enabled mobile cancer units.

3 Senior Post Doctoral Scientists guide the research projects conducted in collaboration with Clinical Faculty attached to Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre.
The staff of the research centre include 6 research associates and a Bio Informatician.
The insitute proposes to induct 3 more post doctoral scientists to expand the research activity.
RESEARCH PROJECTS
Sri Shankara Cancer Foundation's efforts towards understanding cancer, improving treatment outcomes and developing interventions to prevent cancer are focused on some of the most common cancers in the Indian population. This includes Ovarian Cancers, Breast Cancers, Gastro-Intestinal Cancers, Lung, Head and Neck Cancers, Urinary Bladder Cancers and Blood cancers (Leukemias and Lymphomas).
With the guidance from eminent academicians and professionals in our Academic Advisory Board and Institutional Ethics Committee, research meetings are held every quarter to evaluate new and ongoing research projects.
